This vase belongs to a lineage of Mexican folk pottery, specifically from regions like Talavera-style workshops in Puebla, or possibly Jalisco. While it’s not traditional Talavera (which has a tin glaze and denser blue/white decoration), the bright floral motifs and clear hand-painted elements suggest it was made for artisan or tourist markets, possibly even for export in the 1990s.

  • The glaze and floral painting are applied by hand, which you can tell by the brushwork and slight color variations.

  • The palette — especially the cobalt blue, teal green, and terracotta red — is common in Mexican decorative pottery.

  • The base is unglazed terra cotta, another hallmark of ceramic work from central Mexico.
